I was returning from north Grays Harbor County last night and wanted to see if the Fishermen football team could clinch their playoff spot in their final regular season game, at South Bend. The camera I would normally use to shoot a game crapped out on me suddenly, leaving me to improvise with the other camera I had with me, a Fuji X100s and a flash on cord. Oh, and it rained pretty much the whole time. Challenge accepted.
For most of the game I used the 50mm adapter lens and hoped the action would come to me, it didn't, but the rain made the wider than usual view a little more interesting, I think.
A late defensive stand and a third TD sealed the win, and a number four seed into the playoffs next week for IHS.
After the game a number of students came out of the stands with an old wooden chair with the words County Seat (which South Bend is) and awarded it to the team, which was carried off like some kind of trophy, all the while chanting, "We won the county seat!"
