Three years ago I began a series of photographs, a series I didn't expect to do or had planned. I wanted to try to make street photographs in an urban environment and was spending more and more time in Portland, the "city of roses." I started posting these days worth of pictures under the moniker, "On Streets of Roses," here on the blog, very different fro the other work I was making and presenting at that time. This is the 34th installment, just over three years later, so I thought a look back till now might give some idea where I've been and where I'm hopefully going.
Early on I was trying to figure out what I was trying to do, what I wanted to do. The photos were simple — the composition, the moments
As I studied more, figured out more, I began thinking more, about complicating my compositions and looking for colors
Looking for the strange, unusual, weird
This is also where/when I began to make what I think of as my still life pictures
And then things changed, more toward the abstract
And now it's a matter of trying to combine all of those things together in these environments
